The planning tool runs entirely in your browser. Everything you enter — pension values, savings, income, family details, assumptions — is stored only in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no server that receives, sees, or stores this information, and no way to access it even if we wanted to.
When you first open the tool, it verifies your purchase code with Keygen (our licensing provider) to confirm it's valid. After that your browser remembers you, and the tool re-checks the code only occasionally — about every 30 days on the one-off plan and about weekly on the monthly plan — and works offline in between. These checks send only the purchase code itself — never your name, email, or anything you've entered into the tool. As with any website, Keygen's servers will see the internet address the request comes from. A downloaded backup copy (one-off plan only) never makes this check. It contains your purchase code, so keep the file private, but it contains none of the numbers you enter.
Purchases are processed entirely by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"), who act as merchant of record. When you buy Time to Retire, Paddle collects your payment details and email address under its own privacy policy — we don't see or store your card details at any point.
We do have access to a secure Paddle dashboard showing limited order information — your email address, order date, and purchase amount. We use this only to verify a purchase in connection with support requests or refunds, and never for marketing, profiling, or any purpose beyond identifying your order. We don't sell or share this information with any third party. Paddle may separately send you purchase confirmations, receipts, and update notifications related to your order. Once you've paid, Paddle tells our licensing service, which runs on Cloudflare. It creates your purchase code with Keygen and emails it to you through Resend, an email delivery service, from our own address, hello@timetoretire.co.uk. To do this it gets your email address from Paddle and uses it only to send that one email. Your purchase code is stored at Keygen with Paddle's order and customer reference numbers, not your name or email address. Resend keeps a short record of emails sent so we can check a code was delivered. Neither Cloudflare nor Resend uses your details for anything else.
If you email us, your message and email address are kept in our mailbox, which is hosted by Hostinger. We use them only to reply and to deal with your question.
The Site and the Tool are hosted by Hostinger. Like any web host, its servers keep standard logs of requests, including the internet address each one comes from. Apart from the purchase code check, the Tool contacts only our own Site: to see whether a newer version is available, and to fetch the Excel export add-on if you choose that export. Neither request contains anything you've entered.
Keygen, Cloudflare and Resend are based in the United States, so the limited information they handle (your purchase code, and for Cloudflare and Resend your email address while your code is sent) may be processed there. Paddle and Hostinger may also use servers outside the UK. Where personal data leaves the UK, we rely on these providers' data protection terms, which include the safeguards UK data protection law requires for international transfers.
The planning tool has no cookies, analytics, tracking pixels or advertising scripts of any kind. We don't know how you use the tool, what numbers you enter, or how often you open it.
This website (the homepage, guides and budget planner, but not the tool) counts visits anonymously using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and collects no personal data. It doesn't identify or follow individual visitors; it only tells us things like how many people visited a page and which website they came from. You can block it with any standard ad or tracker blocker, and the site works exactly the same.
We don't use advertising scripts or tracking pixels anywhere.
We don't run marketing email campaigns. After you buy, you'll get two emails: your receipt from Paddle (which, on the monthly plan, also lets you manage or cancel your subscription), and one email from us with your purchase code. Paddle may also send notices about your order or subscription.
Because we don't hold any personal or financial data on our own systems beyond the limited order information and any emails you send us, described above, there is generally very little for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — but you can ask us to do any of these by emailing hello@timetoretire.co.uk — the financial information you enter into the tool lives in your browser, under your control, and you can clear it at any time via your browser's settings. For any data Paddle holds on your purchase (such as your email or payment details), you can contact Paddle directly, or reach out to us and we'll help point you in the right direction.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please contact us too.
If our data practices ever change — for example, if we introduce optional cloud sync in the future — we'll update this page and make it clear what's changed before any new data handling begins.
