Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

These terms govern your use of Time to Retire (the "Tool") and TimeToRetire.co.uk (the "Site"). By purchasing or using the Tool, you agree to these terms.

What Time to Retire is

Time to Retire is a financial planning and modelling tool designed to help you understand your retirement finances and explore different scenarios. It is a piece of software, not a person. It does not constitute regulated financial advice under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Nothing produced by the Tool should be treated as a recommendation to take any specific financial action. All projections are illustrative, based on assumptions you provide, and past investment performance does not guarantee future results. For advice specific to your circumstances, please consult a qualified independent financial adviser.

Pricing and payment

Time to Retire is available as a one-off purchase or as a monthly subscription, as described on our pricing page at the time of purchase. All payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle") on our behalf, who act as merchant of record for your purchase. As merchant of record, Paddle is responsible for calculating, collecting, and remitting any applicable VAT or sales tax on your purchase — the price shown to you at checkout is the final price you pay, inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you would normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance contract like this one, starting from the day you buy. However, because Time to Retire is digital content supplied to you immediately, that right does not apply once supply has begun, provided you have given express consent to immediate supply and acknowledged that you lose your cancellation right by doing so.

By completing your purchase and accessing the Tool, you confirm that you want the Tool supplied to you immediately, and that you understand you lose your 14-day right to cancel as a result. If you have not yet accessed or activated the Tool, contact us at hello@timetoretire.co.uk and we will consider your request, but we are not obliged to provide a refund once the Tool has been accessed or your purchase code has been activated.

Monthly plan and cancellation

The monthly plan is a genuine subscription that continues until you cancel it. Cancelling stops all future payments; you keep access until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. We don't offer partial refunds for the remainder of a current billing period.

Because the Tool runs locally rather than through an ongoing server connection, it periodically reconfirms your subscription status with our payment provider (typically around once a week) rather than checking continuously. If you cancel, you should expect access to end within about a week of your next reconnection, rather than instantly. If the Tool is unable to reconnect and confirm your subscription for an extended period (around 30 days), it may lock itself as a precaution until you're back online — this is not a cancellation and resolves itself automatically once reconnected.

One-off purchase

The one-off plan is a single payment that gives you permanent access to the Tool, including free updates, with no recurring charges.

Because a one-off purchase is intended to be yours for good, the hosted version checks in with our payment provider far less often than the monthly plan — roughly every 30 days rather than weekly — purely to catch the rare case of a refund. If a one-off purchase is refunded, access to the hosted version ends the next time this routine check succeeds, typically within about 30 days, rather than instantly. If the Tool is unable to reconnect and complete this check for an extended period (around 90 days) — for example due to a lack of internet access — it may lock itself as a precaution until you're back online; this is unrelated to refunds and resolves itself automatically once reconnected. None of this affects a backup copy you've already downloaded, which continues to work offline independently of any check.

Your licence to use the Tool

When you purchase Time to Retire, we grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Tool for your own retirement planning. Your purchase code is personal to you and should not be shared or redistributed. You may not resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Tool or its underlying code.

Access and the hosted tool

The Tool normally runs from our website. If you're on the one-off plan, we also provide a "Download Backup Copy" option inside the Tool that saves a fully offline copy to your own device, which will continue to work independently of our site — we recommend taking this backup at least once, particularly if continued access matters to you. This option is not available on the monthly plan, since a permanent offline copy would be inconsistent with access being tied to an active subscription; monthly access depends on the Tool remaining able to periodically confirm your subscription status, as described above. See our FAQ for more on what happens if TimeToRetire.co.uk were ever to close.

Your data

Everything you enter into the Tool is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to us. We have no access to your financial information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

No warranty

The Tool is provided "as is." While we've built it carefully and test it thoroughly, we make no warranty that it is error-free, that its calculations are exhaustive of every possible tax or planning scenario, or that it will be uninterrupted or available at all times. You are responsible for reviewing and sense-checking any figures the Tool produces before relying on them.

The Tool's calculations, tax treatments and projections are based on the assumptions and data you enter, and on our understanding of UK tax and pension rules at the time of each release. They may not capture every rule, exception, edge case, or future change in legislation, and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or suitable for your particular circumstances. Nothing produced by the Tool should be treated as a statement of fact about your entitlements or tax position. We strongly recommend independently verifying any figures material to a financial decision, and seeking regulated financial or tax advice before acting on them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any financial loss, decision, or outcome arising from your use of the Tool, including decisions made based on its projections. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under UK law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

If we ever discontinue Time to Retire

If we ever stop operating the monthly plan, we will stop accepting new subscribers immediately, and give all existing active subscribers at least 30 days' notice by email before any closure, taking no further payment after the closure date. Because new subscriptions close at the same moment notice is given, every subscriber receives the full notice period regardless of when they originally joined.

Changes to the Tool and these terms

We may update the Tool from time to time, including in response to changes in UK tax law, and we may update these terms. Where a change is material, we'll aim to make this clear on the Site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
